1_update.jpg

Rising Organizers Lit Club  is here to dive into big topics and break them down into local actions you can take right now. This month: housing, gentrification, and cultural change in our nation's cities.

Thursday, April 1st at 6 pm ESTin partnership with the Bertelsmann Foundation, we’ll be screening Go-Go City: Displacement and Protest in Washington DC, filmed and directed by Samuel George.

About the film: For decades, Washington, DC has stood as a beacon for Black culture and community. Yet a breakneck wave of gentrification threatens this history. Go-Go City dives into this rich tapestry, exploring the culture and sound of Washington, DC, as well as the forces of economic and cultural gentrification that stand to mute them. The film interweaves scenes of protest as displaced communities rally around the city’s beloved Go-Go music to retake the streets. Watch the trailer.
